Are you sick of religion? Me, too. Now I know what youre thinking, how can a youth pastor be sick of religion? See, religion is man made. Many mistakes have been made in the name of religion. But true Christianity isnt a religion, its a relationshipa relationship stemming from a God who cares for us and loves us with an unquenchable love. When Jesus was on the earth, He spent His time ministering to those who were poor, weak, and downtrodden, those who were neglected by society. Like you. They just wanted to be loved. And so do you.
Guys, Im here to tell you, you are loved. In John 15:13, Jesus says, Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. A short time later, Jesus did just that, He laid down His life for His friends. For You. His friend. His desire now is to have a relationship with Him It doesnt matter who you are or what youve done. He desires that relationship. He wants to be you, his friend.
All it takes is faith. You see we messed up, and God is perfect. Romans 3:23 says all of us messed up, we all sinned. Because we sin, Romans 5:8 tells us the wages of those sins is death, but God wants to give us a free gifteternal life. Spending forever with Him. An unending relationship. Always friends. Because of our sin, someone had to pay a price. We deserved to, but Jesus took our place. Now all it takes is for us to call on Him as our Savior, to turn to Him as our God, and our friend. Romans 10:9-10 says, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. All it takes is that faith, what the Bible calls the faith of a child, and we can begin the most amazing journey, a walk with God.
